AuthorsMUHAMMAD ILYAS MAHMOOD, ABIDA SHAMIM and MOBASHRA MOBEEN
Abstract

The rationale of this research is to examine Frost’s poem “Desert Places” on linguistic and stylistic basis. Previous studies concerning this poem have focused on theme and some literary features of this poem. However, little attention is paid to its stylistic analysis, which is vital for comprehensive explanation and recognition of poet’s intention. This poem “Desert Places” reveals the idea of man’s loneliness and his relation with nature. This article investigates stylistic traits of the poem to indicate how these traits wok collectively to strengthen the main idea. This analysis will help the readers in better comprehension of the poem and stylistic techniques employed by the poet for the elaboration of his deep life philosophy. These stylistic traits include sound qualities, syntactic features and various figurative devices.
