This paper excavates the US Asia-Pacific policy considering the realist theories. It contends and validates that transition in international politics is bringing change in power distribution among states. Hence, bringing tangible shift in the US foreign policy. The US is now more focused in containing Chinese influence in the Asia-Pacific for which the US is seeking cooperation of regional states. This paper examines the strategic shift in the US policy and her new strategy of forming alliances with regional states; its increasing military presence in the region and improving relations with the regional powers in the changing security, economic and diplomatic regional scenario. To counter the US restraining strategy, China employed the policy of ‘economic diplomacy’ for which it has started number of economic corridors under ‘One Belt One Road.’
