Priority-Based Ranking Using Optimization Model for Cricket Team Performance

Abstract
This study suggests a new method for cricket team selection using Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). An Analytical Network Process (ANP) formulation is used to evaluate cricket players in many skills using multiple outputs. This evaluation determines efficient and inefficient cricket players and ranks them based on criteria and sub-criteria. A real dataset of Pakistan players of the Pakistan Cricket Team (PCB) (October 2019), having various capabilities is used to choose the best Player. ANP model is used to rank players in a one-day international cricket match. The selection is based on different parameters which are Batting, Bowling, All-Rounders, and Wicket Keeping. The consistency ratio is checked, whether the comparison is consistent or not as per Thomas L Saaty defined criteria. In all four criteria result shown that alternative ranking was stable for selecting the optimal players using four different criteria. The proposed ANP method is used for selecting the best squad of a national cricket team, clubs, PSL, etc.
