Abstract
With growing needs of competitive markets, businesses are evolving and so are their supply chains and related strategies. A growing body of research has highlighted that organizations who are effective in managing their supply chains are able to realize an improved efficiency as well as performance. This paper has made an attempt to quantitatively analyze antecedents of supply chain effectiveness. The proposed supply chain model has been supported through theoretical foundations of Social Exchange Theory and further asserts that factor like trust, communication and technology advancement are used in the study to explore their effects on supplier manufacturer partnership and on supply chain effectiveness. By employing convenience sampling to gather data from 190 respondents from all management levels of manufacturing firms from all departments, this study finds out that partnerships are built when the suppliers and manufacturer are willing to communicate complete information and trust each other. The paper further highlights an indication that firms are required to work on their supplier-manufacturer partnerships. When these partnerships are built with mutual understandings and productivity of both parties are focused, they effect on the effectiveness of the supply chains. This paper further proposes future research avenues to be examined in the current domain of research.
